Why Reformulate EasywillowTM?
As regulatory guidance regarding Kava has become more clearly defined — including recent actions in California and updated HIWU guidelines — in 2025, Finish Line® Horse Products proactively began developing an updated EasywillowTM formulation designed to align with emerging regulatory standards across multiple jurisdictions.

To support our customers and industry partners, beginning in June 2026, Finish Line Horse Products will begin distribution of the updated EasywillowTM formulation. The new formula maintains the same core ingredients and concentrations as the original product, with the exception of Kava-Kava, which has been removed.

What is Kava Kava?
Kava Kava, also known as Kava or Piper methysticum (scientific/botanical name), is a tropical plant that belongs to the pepper family. The active compounds in kava are called kavalactones, which are known to influence the nervous system.

Did you know Kava was banned?
It wasn’t for decades. Recently, California and some performance disciplines started classifying it, and we began reformulating. Regulatory standards changed over time across different jurisdictions, which is why reformulation efforts began in 2025.

Was the product safe?
EasywillowTM has been on the market for 15 years. There have been no adverse events that we are aware of. Horse welfare and responsible product development have always been central to Finish Line®’s approach.

Can I still use EasywillowTM?
Not in Thoroughbred racing–  it is not allowed in your barn. For other disciplines, check the rules for your discipline and jurisdiction. Customers should follow the rules and guidance applicable within their jurisdiction and racing organization.

Was EasywillowTM banned?
Certain racing jurisdictions and regulatory bodies have evolved their standards regarding Kava-containing ingredients, which is why Finish Line® Horse Products proactively initiated reformulation efforts.

Did Finish Line® Horse Products knowingly sell a prohibited product
EasywillowTM was openly marketed with transparent ingredient information, and our focus has always been responsible product development and equine wellness support.
