Finish Line Horse Products to Support 2018 Thoroughbred Makeover
Bensenville, Ill.—Finish Line Horse Products is pleased to add the Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium as one of its sponsored events for 2018 in an effort to show its continued support of thoroughbred horses.
The Thoroughbred Makeover will return to the Kentucky Horse Park on October 4 through 7 for the fourth year in a row to highlight the talents of recently retired racehorses that have new homes and careers. The event continues to grow with 794 trainers for 2018, a 38 percent increase over the previous year. Only off-track thoroughbreds that started their training for a new career on or after December 1, 2017, are eligible to compete in one of 10 events: barrel racing, competitive trail, dressage, eventing, field hunter, freestyle, polo, ranch work, show jumper and show jumping. Winners will receive a share of $100,000 in prize money.
“All of us at the Retired Racehorse Project are thrilled to welcome Finish Line Horse Products, Inc. on board as our new sponsor, and we look forward to a long and successful partnership,” says Retired Racehorse Program Developer Julia Oughton. “Their commitment to the breed is decades old. We can’t wait for the future.”
Finish Line Horse Products has its roots at thoroughbred race tracks where company owner John R. Howe first trained race horses with his father and grandfather prior to his decision to manufacture the poultices and tie-up remedies originally formulated by his family. More than 40 years later, trainers at racetracks around the world use Finish Line products to keep their horses healthy. The company routinely donates product to horse rescues with the goal to help horses stay healthy throughout their lives.
The Thoroughbred Makeover offers Finish Line another way to give to thoroughbreds, wherever their careers take them. Owner John Howe explains, “We have been successful and want to help others be successful also. These horses need to stay active and deserve attention. This gives these horses a [new] purpose, and the people that get them fall in love with them.”
