Vitamin E is essential for horses because it acts as an antioxidant that helps protect muscle and nerve cells from oxidative damage. It also plays a key role in supporting the horses’ immune system. Horses that do not have access to fresh pasture, which is the richest natural source of vitamin E, are especially at risk for low vitamin E levels and may require supplementation to maintain optimal health and performance.

Natural vitamin E (d-alpha-tocopherol) offers several advantages over synthetic vitamin E (dl-alpha-tocopherol) in horses. The most significant benefit is greater bioavailability—natural vitamin E is more efficiently absorbed and utilized by the horse’s body. Additionally, natural vitamin E stays active in the body longer, providing more sustained antioxidant protection.

Directions: 

• To supply 2,000 IU of natural vitamin E per day, give 1 level scoop (29.6cc or 13 grams) per day.
